Hagerman's
Corner School
Markham Township
History records that two buildings
have stood on this property that originally
was donated by the Young Family.
The original school building opened
1858, was demolished by fire on
April 11th 1888, and work upon
the new school, the present building,
was commenced immediately
and completed in the same year at a
cost of $2,324.37.
John Gibson Sr., is recorded as being
the Chairman of the first school board
in 1858, and Adam MacDonald was
the first teacher from 1858 to 1866.
Two centuries later...
The School still remains as a
gathering place for the community.
The Piano Lounge is located in the
original School building.
The adjoining Dining Room can be
found on the west side.
Private Rooms for Banquets and
special events are located on the
east side of the building.
